SIT Community Laces Up for a Cause at Inaugural SITizen Run
The first-ever SITizen Run was more than just a run. It was a celebration of community, fitness and generosity. Held over 11 days, close to 300 participants—including alumni with their families—took part in both virtual and physical runs, to log thousands of kilometers while raising funds to support students in need.
Organised in collaboration with the Advancement Office, the SITizen Run brought together the SIT community and Punggol residents in a shared commitment to wellness and philanthropy. Participants covered an impressive, 5,863.51km, demonstrating the strength of SIT’s spirit.
A total of 299 participants joined the inaugural run, comprising 79 staff, 8 faculty members, 129 students and members of the SIT Running Club, 58 alumni, and 25 public participants. Their dedication underscored the spirit of camaraderie that defines SIT.
The SITizen Run featured both virtual and physical components, catering to participants of all fitness levels. The virtual segment, held from 14 to 24 February 2025, allowed runners to log their distances remotely at their own pace. The excitement peaked on 22 February 2025 with the physical run at SIT Punggol Campus, where the community came together for an uplifting experience.
The event culminated in a vibrant SITizen Run Carnival, where participants and supporters gathered to celebrate their achievements with activities, food, and drinks. It was a heartwarming sight, as alumni brought along their family members—both young and old—as well as their furry companions, making it a true community affair.
Beyond promoting health and wellness, the event also supported a meaningful cause, raising $8,030.00 through participation fees. All proceeds went directly to the SIT Bursary Fund, providing financial assistance to the SIT students in need.
The success of the inaugural SITizen Run marks the beginning of an exciting new tradition for SIT. As the community looks forward to future editions, the event stands as a testament to SIT’s commitment to fostering holistic development and a spirit of generosity among its members.
Congratulations to all participants for making the first SITizen Run a resounding success!
